FONS - Friends Of Northern Schools
Our Mission Statement
“To enhance the experience of pupils in the federation by the development of relationships between the staff and families associated with the school, through activities that are fun and engaging and that support the school by providing additional funds and facilities that would otherwise not be funded through the Local Education Authority”.
Who are we?
We are parents and carers who volunteer their time ad-hoc throughout the school academic year to plan and run seasonal events that are fun for the children and their families. FONS includes a chairperson, deputy chairperson, treasurer and members. However, our numbers at present are particularly low and we urgently need some more helpers.
What are we?
FONS is a group of parents and carers of children at Northern Infant and Northern Junior school who, with the support of the school staff, primarily organise fun inclusive events for the children and their families. Our aim is to raise money for the benefit of the school and all those that attend, through the purchase of equipment and resources. We also help funding school trips, visitors and experiences, all of which enhance our children’s education experience and the school’s facilities. FONS also exists to provide closer links between home and school and is an excellent way of bringing staff, parents, friends and the community together socially, in the support of the school, working towards a common goal.
FONS is looking to register as registered charity in 2020/2021.
What we need
As a parent or carer of a child at Northern Schools you are already a ‘Friend of Northern Schools’ and as such are encouraged to get involved, even if you only have a small amount of time available. We need helpers at all the events we run as without sufficient support we are unable to run these worthwhile events.
