Year R Starters September 2022 - Parent information
If you have received notification that your child has been allocated a place in Reception at Northern Infant School for September, you will have recieved communications from the school to complete the necessary paperwork.
Transition information has been sent directly to parents via SchoolPing. If you have not recieved this then please contact the school office.
Please take a look at our Starting at Northern page for more information, links to our virtual tour as well as our Parent Information Pack as well as our Year R 2022 Starters - pupil page, where a new video will be uploaded each week to go with an activity from your childs goody bag.
Our lunches are provided by HC3S. Our full menu can be found on the 'lunchtime tab' and additional information is also available directly from the HC3S website
If your child requires a special dietry menu, then you need to apply via the HC3S portal by 20th June.
Menus will be approved by an NHS dietician over the summer and appear in the portal for schools and parents to view ready for September if this is completed on time.
Activities to try at home
Tiny Happy People have produced a series of short videos with suggestions for games and activities you can do at home, which will support your child with a range of skills. They are fun and easy to do. Take a look here
Attached below is a link 'getting ready to start school' as well as the Hampshire School Readiness document. Both of these provide great guidance on the fundamental skills which should be happening before any curriculum learning can take place. These are everyday things which will support your child's learning, awareness and development and can be completed by giving them experiences, being outdoors and questioning absolutely everything! Try starting sentences with 'I wonder if...?' or 'What do you think...?' and then allow them to think for themselves and be independent!
